New Orleans, LA – April 3-5 2014

The 31st International Churchill Conference will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, from April 3-5, 2014.  The Churchill Centre and the Churchill Society of New Orleans are partnering with the National World War II Museum to host this conference entitled Churchill: Fighting and Writing. The keynote speaker on Friday, April 4 is distinguished historian Josiah Bunting III. Bunting was recently elected Chairman of the English-Speaking Union of the United States and is the President of the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation. 

For early arrivals, the New Orleans Society is sponsoring a very special reception and walking tour of the beautiful Garden District of New Orleans.  They are also offering a complimentary walking tour of the French Quarter on Thursday afternoon, April 3.

The conference registration officially opens on Thursday, April 3, and the welcome reception will be held that evening.  An optional dinner Thursday evening has been organized by the New Orleans Churchill Society at the beautiful and historic Arnaud’s restaurant.  Conference sessions begin Friday morning, April 4, at the Loews Hotel New Orleans, 300 Poydras Street, and continue on Saturday, April 5. Friday’s speakers include Nigel Hamilton, Allen Packwood and a special session with The Daily Telegraph defense editor Con Couglin interviewing Winston Churchill’s great-grandson Alex Perkins. Saturday features the Hon. Celia Sandys, Michael Shelden and Michael McMenamin. 

Conference registration includes complimentary admission to the Museum, and dinner on Friday night at the Loews Hotel.  The closing night black tie Gala Banquet will be held under World War II aircraft hanging in the Freedom Pavilion of the Museum. Dr. Nick Mueller, President and CEO of the National World War II Museum, ends the evening by introducing the charming music trio Victory Belles.
