The annual Churchill academic panel discussion and black tie dinner will be held during the American Political Science Association convention. This year’s convention will be held in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Senator Hugh Segal, CM, is the featured speaker at this year’s black tie Churchill dinner which will be held Thursday evening, September 3, at The Albany Club, 91 King Street East, Toronto, ON, Canada, beginning with cocktails at 7:00 p.m.  Senator Segal will speak on “Recession, Depression, War: How Churchill Would Break the Cycle”.  Senator Segal was appointed to the Canadian Senate in 2005 by Prime Minister Martin.  He is a former President of the Institute for Research on Public Policy and remains a Senior Fellow and teaches at Queen’s University.

Churchill and Canada is the subect of the annual APSA panel discussion on Thursday afternoon, September 3, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.  Speakers are Evelyna Popova, University of Toronto, speaking on “Churchill and Canada in the History of the English-Speaking Peoples”; Peter H. Russell, University of Toronto, who will address “Churchill and Empire”; and, James W. Muller, University of Alaska at Anchorage, speaking on “John Churchill and the Hudson Bay Company”.  There is no charge for attendance, but contact Mary Paxson at The Churchill Centre (see above for phone and email) to obtain the location of the panel.
