Details of the full program for the 32nd International Churchill Conference have now been released. The conference will take place from 26-29 May with the Heythrop Park Hotel serving as headquarters. Events include dinners at both Ditchley Park and Blenheim Palace, a Keynote Address by Boris Johnson (Mayor of London and author of The Churchill Factor), and a memorial service before the Churchill family gravesite at St. Martin’s Church in Bladon. For more information and to register for the conference, please CLICK HERE.

Tuesday, 26 May

Wednesday, 27 May 

Churchill Day at Blenheim: Coaches depart for Blenheim Palace from Heythrop Park Hotel from 10 am to Noon and return from 4-6 pm.

Drinks Reception and Conference Buffet Dinner at Heythrop Park Hotel. Hosts: The Hon. Celia Sandys & Mrs Clementina Flaherty. Randolph Churchill will say a few words on Blenheim. Entertainment: Vera Lynn tribute act.

Thursday, 28 May

Conference registration opens at 8:30 am. All sessions at the Heythrop Park Hotel.  Programme begins at 9 am

Welcome – The Hon Celia Sandys (Conference President) – Mr Derek Greenwell (Conference Chairman) – Mr Laurence Geller CBE (The Churchill Centre Chairman). Chartwell exhibition film to be shown

Session 1: “Why celebrate Churchill’s Life?” Mr Jonathan Dimbleby (Chairman) – Professor Sir David Cannadine & Professor Margaret Macmillan (Panelists)

Session 2: Keynote Address “The Churchill Factor” with Boris Johnson (Mayor of London) introduced by The Rt. Hon. Lord Marland

Lunch. After lunch address by Cita Stelzer – “Dinner with Churchill”

Session 3:
Controversies 1 – “Churchill and Islam” with Professor James Muller and Dr Warren Dockter
Consolations 1 – “Churchill & Painting” with Mrs. Minnie Churchill

Session 4
Controversies 2 – “Churchill and the Dardanelles” Professor David Freeman (Chairman) – Professor Antoine Capet, Dr Mark Hamilton, and Mr Harry Atkinson (Panelists)
Consolations 2 – “Churchill & Animals” with Piers Brendon (former Keeper of the Churchill Archives Centre)

Dinner at Blenheim Palace: A Pol Roger Reception followed by dinner in the Orangery. Host: His Grace the Duke of Marlborough. Entertainment: The Hon. Celia Sandys & Mr Robert Hardy CBE. Toasts (The Queen, Sir Winston, Lady Soames), Harrow Songs. Coaches to and from Heythrop Park Hotel will be provided.

Friday, 29 May

Morning sessions begin at Heythrop Park Hotel at 9 am.

Session 1: “Remembering Clementine Churchill” with Celia Sandys and Sonia Purnell

Session 2: “Churchill and Napoleon” with Andrew Roberts

Session 3: “Playing Churchill” with Christian McKay

Session 4: “Celebrating Churchill in Fact and Fiction” with Michael Dobbs

Lunch

After lunch, coaches will depart from Heythrop Park Hotel for Blenheim. A Memorial Service will take place at St Martin’s Church, Bladon, where Sir Winston and his family members are buried. You will also have the option of touring the Soldiers of Oxfordshire exhibit. The last coaches will depart for Heythrop Park Hotel at 5:30 pm.

Blenheim Memorial Concert at 7 pm. This event must be booked separately.
